Kevin Glaccum

Kevin Glaccum is a distinguished theater director and educator with a rich history in the performing arts. He was an integral part of Azuka Theatre since its inaugural production, “La Rue des Faux,” and has directed 21 productions for the company, including 11 world premieres such as “Mrs. Harrison,” “Shitheads,” “Lights Rise on Grace,” “Moon Cave,” and “Pookie Goes Grenading.” His direction of the musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” earned him a Barrymore Award nomination for Best Director and recognition as Best Director of a Musical by Philadelphia Weekly.

Beyond Azuka Theatre, Kevin has directed “Say Goodnight, Gracie” at Act II Playhouse, “Iron Kisses” for the Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Theater Festival, and “The Shoes” at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. At Arcadia University, where he serves as an adjunct professor, his directing credits include “The Rocky Horror Show,” “Club California,” “Proof,” “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” “Speech and Debate,” and “Crimes of the Heart.”

Kevin’s leadership extends to his role as Board President for Theatre Philadelphia, the organization responsible for the Barrymore Awards, Philadelphia’s professional theater awards program. He is also a member of Lincoln Center’s Directors Lab and has participated in the La MaMa Umbria International Symposium for Directors and the International Playwrights Retreat. In 2018, he was honored with an Independence Foundation Fellowship in the Arts.

Throughout his career, Kevin Glaccum has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to the arts, contributing significantly to Philadelphia’s theater community and nurturing the next generation of theater practitioners through his teaching and mentorship.
